Winnersh Triangle

Project Brief

We were appointed by Wokingham Borough Council to design, fabricate, and install a replacement steel barrier system on the top deck of Winnersh Triangle Car Park following significant damage caused by a vehicle collision.

The impact had compromised the integrity of the existing barrier, creating an urgent need for a safe and structurally sound replacement that met current highway and safety standards.

Scope of Works

  • Emergency Site Assessment
Conducted a rapid response inspection to assess the extent of the damage, ensure temporary safety measures, and inform the repair strategy.

  • Design & Engineering
Developed a bespoke steel barrier solution engineered to withstand future vehicular impact and comply with current building and safety regulations.

  • Fabrication
Precision-fabricated components using corrosion-resistant structural steel, coated for long-term durability in an exposed rooftop environment.

  • Installation & Localised Repairs
Removal of the damaged sections, preparation of the existing structure, and installation of the new barrier system — including localised repair of the deck surface and anchoring points as needed.

  • Compliance & Safety
All works delivered under CDM regulations, with strict adherence to Wokingham Borough Council’s operational and safety requirements.

Outcome

This project will restore full functionality and safety to the top deck of the car park. The newly installed steel barrier system offers long-term resilience and peace of mind for both the council and the public, with minimal disruption during the works.
